My life in DKIT

I came to Ireland about 2 years, and also studing in college for 2 years. Now, I will graduate from DKIT. I think that is so short and fresh, all things just like happened at last day. In college, there have a lot of wonderful memory.

Graduation day

I will always remember the large windmill in the campus. I have looked the windmill at first eye, when I walk into the campus the first time. The library is one of important place in college for me. When the exams coming,  I always study in here nearly one day.

As event management students, there are many events we have organized during last couple years.  at last year, we have organized the Chinese new year celebration party. It is a important experience in my college life. We are 4 Chinese students to planed this party. It including the plan proposal, performances planning, publicity, operation, etc. I think that it is a successful event. It not only attrated more Chinese students, but also many Irish to attended. And we provided many special performances. In last couple years, we also organized other events in college.

The college life is very beautiful. No matter what time, and no matter where I go, I will always remember all things in DKIT.

The Royal Wedding

On 29th April 2011, the Royal wedding host at Buckingham Palace. Britain's Prince William  and Kate Middleton, his 29-year-old girlfriend of nearly a decade, married in London's historic Westminster Abbey in the biggest royal wedding for 30 years.

A million cheering people crowded into central London to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds as they rode from the abbey to Queen Elizabeth's Buckingham Palace in a 1902 open-topped state landau carriage. Commentators praised the royal family for striking a balance between carefully choreographed grandeur -- military bands in black bearskin hats and household cavalrymen in shining breastplates -- and personal spontaneity.

The wedding got a lot of blessings. This is a world wedding. Some royals of differences country came to the wedding, and a lot of people wacth the process of the wedding from the TV or video. They have given a very blessings for William and Kate. We all hope that they will always be happy.

Mobile Commerce

Mobile Commerce, also known as M-Commerce or mCommerce, is the ability to conduct commerce using a mobile device, such as a mobile phone, a Personal digital assistantPDA, a smartphone, or other emerging mobile equipment such as dashtop mobile devices.

Mobile commerce or M-commerce is beginning to grow at an extraordinary rate, though initial uptake was slow due to security issues. More and more consumers are now using their smart phones not just to buy products but to also compare prices and check stocks in a particular store. Proof of the increased uptake is clear to see with the recent release of Paypal mobile App which was downloaded more than 1 million times in the first 3 weeks after launch.

An increase in smart phone adoption might help allow 2011 to finally be the year when mobile commerce becomes more mainstream. Not only have more consumers picked up smart phones like the iPhone and Blackberry, but they have also picked up tablets like the iPad. The iPad can utilize 3G, which means it is as much a device to partake in mobile commerce as a smart phone. Therefore the combination of these devices in consumers hands, should make 2011 a year where people become more comfortable with the concept of mobile commerce. Additionally more online retailers are stepping up their game and offering mobile friendly sites, or dedicated apps that provide a custom mobile commerce experience. Any ecommerce merchant who is not considering mobile commerce to be part of their strategy in 2011 should seriously rethink their plans, as it is an easy way to increase the reach of an online store, and hopefully increase sales.

Website Usability

What is Web site Usability?

Web usability is about designing your web site in such a way that your viewer can find what they're looking for quickly and efficiently.
Finding your site is critical but, once found, the site must be easy to navigate and the content must be understandable. Without this the site is pointless.
When visitors reach your site, they want the experience to be a pleasant one. From the speed with which it takes to load the site contents (research shows that if a site takes over 6.8 seconds to load, the viewer goes looking elsewhere for your product or service), to the ease of navigation and the readability and quality of the text and the images used.
Never use frames or framing to lay out your web site .Frames can cause a number of usability problems, namely:
  • Disabling the back button in browsers.
  • Search engine optimisation issues.
  • Bookmarking is not possible.
  • Impossible to e-mail the link to someone else.
  • Problems with printing the desired web site page.
  • Users are turned off by links which do not open, or are slow to do so.

A good website is an easy to use website.

A quick overview of the differences between usability and accessibility will help you better understand our consulting services. Usability refers to how user-friendly your site is. Is it quick and simple to navigate? Does it present information in a logical format? Is it easy to find what you're looking for?
Accessibility has to do with building a website that can be accessed by anyone and everyone, including those with disabilities. The primary focus of accessibility tends to be on those with impaired vision. For some businesses accessibility is a legal mandate. For all businesses it's a smart move.

The Apple menu is probably one of the more well known and most copied navigations there is. You are likely asking yourself what makes this relatively plain and very simple navigation so great. Well, first is the consistency. The menu stays exactly the same throughout all pages, which is a simple way to avoid confusing the user.

Any website (or any design layout for that matter) starts out as a simple grid. Grids are the foundation to any layout and the content is built upon that grid. Apple uses very clean and well-spaced grids on each page, which makes for a very pleasing experience.

On top of a smooth layout, the colors also compliment the usability of the site. Color schemes are crucial to the feel and vibe of the website. Very often coloring does effect usability of a site, believe it or not.

Censorship on the website

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body.

Internet censorship is control or suppression of the publishing or accessing of information on the Internet. The legal issues are similar to offline censorship. One difference is that national borders are more permeable online: residents of a country that bans certain information can find it on websites hosted outside the country. A government can try to prevent its citizens from viewing these even if it has no control over the websites themselves.

In some cases, Internet censorship may involve deceit. In such cases the censoring authority may block content while leading the public to believe that censorship has not been applied. This may be done by having the ISP provide a fake "Not Found" error message upon the request of an Internet page that is actually found but blocked.

In 2010, the network administrator will enhance the network management and control in China. In China, the socialmedia include QQ, Renren, Kaixin, Weibo, etc. The government will focus on these groups and websites, they will effectively integrate various resources to enhance Internet management and control, the Internet police force to the extension of the public security organs at the county level, will reach to the QQ-line patrol control group, micro-blog and other "weak management space, " extension, raise "online found Detect, control and disposal capacity "to prevent the formation of hidden crime organization.

Web standards

Web standards is a general term for the formal standards and other technical specification that define and describe aspects of the World Wide Web (W3C). In recent years, the term has been more frequently associated with the trend of endorsing a set of standardized best practices for building web sites, and a philosophy of web design and development that includes those methods.

The social value of the Web is that it enables human communication, commerce, and opportunities to share knowledge. One of W3C's primary goals is to make these benefits available to all people, whatever their hardware, software, network infrastructure, native language, culture, geographical location, or physical or mental ability.

A W3C Recommendation is a specification or set of guidelines that, after extensive consensus-building, has received the endorsement of W3C Members and the Director.

An IETF Internet Standard is characterized by a high degree of technical maturity and by a generally held belief that the specified protocol or service provides significant benefit to the Internet community. A specification that reaches the status of Standard is assigned a number in the IETF STD series while retaining its original IETF RFC number.

The only way to fight is to provide it – and this is what nowadays HTML, CSS and JavaScript do as the Flash competitors, based on Web standards. The so-obvious- in -the -past boundary between Flash websites and Web standards gradually disappeared to an extent – you can never be sure at first glance which technology has been used to build a particular Web site.
The list of websites favoring Web standards is constantly growing nowadays. Well there is a good apart reason for that - the iPad and iPhone’s lack of Flash - someone will say! That is correct but it is not the only reason - there are other certain benefits that Web standards bring.

Technology fast

In this month, I had give up the internet, mobile phone and email for 2 days. This is a assignment about non-electronica. It is very interesting, but I think this is really not going to be easy. In the two days, i had try my best to keep far away the internet, mobile phone and email.
At the first day, I left my phone at home and went to college. But when I arrived class, I got notice that the class was unavailable. And then, I want to told my friend, but I found I hang off the phone. The phone is very close with me. When I left the phone, it is diffcult to communite with my friends and family. After the two days, I opened the phone again I got many miss call from my friends.

At the second day, I also gave up its. I had a meeting with a lecturer. But her office was close when I arrived college. I waited at there about half hour, I didn't meet her. After the day I have checked my email. And I got her mail, she said she had change the meeting for other day. OMG! That is a result for the try.

The internet, mobile phone and email are control my life which I think it is piece of cake for me. throught this two days, I know its are important for me. If I had leave these I can't take the usual life. But I think that is a good activity for us. We should try to leave technology sometimes.

Global alcohol consumption

The world drank the equivalent of 6.1 litres of pure alcohol per person in 2005, according to a report from the World Health Organisation published on February 11th. The biggest boozers are found in Europe and in the former Soviet states. Moldovans are the most bibulous, getting through 18.2 litres each, nearly 2 litres more than the Czechs in second place. Over 10 litres of a Moldovan's annual intake is reckoned to be 'unrecorded'  home-brewed liquor, making it particularly harmful to health. Such moonshine accounts for almost 30% of the world's drinking. The WHO estimates that alcohol results in 2.5m deaths a year, more than AIDS or tuberculosis. In Russia and its former satellite states one in five male deaths is caused by drink.
